Emergency Dental Care

Dr. Mayes specializes in providing prompt, expert treatment for children experiencing dental emergencies. This includes care for oral infections, severe pain, and dental injuries such as knocked-out or broken teeth. We prioritize immediate care and offer same-day appointments. Our goal is to address trauma and alleviate anxiety using specialized, child-focused techniques.

If you are a patient of record, please call our office line first. Our after-hours message provides a direct number to reach Dr. Mayes.

Key Pediatric Emergency Scenarios & Immediate Actions:

  • Knocked-Out Tooth: Keep the child calm. If permanent, rinse the tooth and try to place it back in the socket, or store it in a container of cold milk or saliva. Seek immediate care.

  • Broken or Fractured Tooth: Save all tooth fragments. Clean the area with warm water and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.

  • Severe Toothache: Rinse with warm salt water and use dental floss to remove trapped food.

  • Injuries to Jaw/Head: If the child suffers a blow to the head or facial trauma, visit the emergency room immediately

Call 911 or Visit the Emergency Room Immediately If:

  • The child has a broken jaw.

  • There is severe facial swelling that restricts breathing.

  • The child is experiencing severe, uncontrolled bleeding.
